“My favorite singer [as a girl] was Monica,” Minaj tells the fashion glossy. “Her clothes and her shoes always looked expensive, and I felt like I could never afford what she was wearing.”
Monica, whose style transformation has left a mark on many ladies throughout the years, is flattered by the salute. “It’s extremely humbling to be thought of and remembered by a woman and artist like Nicki because she has done some amazing things in her career thus far,” she told Vixen.
“It touched my heart that songs I sang meant something to her because when I sing, I sing for the people and the young women like me. Music saved my life, and I know Nicki can relate to the love and passion for the music.”
The “Angel of Mine” singer also revealed her favorite song from the female spitter. “My favorite song by Nicki is ‘Moment For Life.’ There have been many moments that God blessed me with that I wanted to feel forever.”
She even gave Nicki kudos for her leopard 2011 Grammy outfit. “It was unexpected and daring in so many ways.”
